The Train Ride

Jacob hadn't been on a train before. It was unusual for someone from his town to even venture beyond the walls of their small village.

Uneasily he fastened the seat belt that had previously hung across the  dirty seat he was now sitting on. Outside, through the frost fringed windows he could see the lights of Trabanath faintly through the snow.

By now the watchmen would have closed the gates and the night guard begun prowling the perimeter. Unless you were a wraith, you didn't want to be outside.

Jacob had never really spoken to a wraith before, though he had heard the stories. Every kid in Trabanath had. Wraiths were the only humans among them who could venture outside the village.

He then logically assumed that even now it was wraiths that were commanding the train he was currently about to travel on.

The doors to the terrible weather outside hissed shut, not before a few flakes of snow drifted through the door and onto the worn steel floor of the train. This cabin, likely salvaged from the

Fragile precept

old words

old values,

their weight ....

like

fingers on clay

can ... shape the soul you know

its sad that such a gentle breeze,

like that of a single syllable

can render any form and any shape

no matter how wonderful

to dust.

A knee that wont stop jigging

a nervous energy

thoughts darting back and forth

a racing heart

no solution

So ... damn ... tired ...

oh to sleep

but sleep wont solve it

will it ?

time

that will heal it

surely?
